BHU Foundation Day
BHU stands for Banaras Hindu University, which is a public central university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The foundation day of BHU is February 4, 1916. It was founded by Madan Mohan Malviya, a freedom fighter and educationist, with the support of the Indian National Congress and the then British Government. BHU is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in India, and is known for its strong programs in fields such as engineering, science, medicine, and the humanities.

About Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya
Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya (1861-1946) was an Indian educationist, freedom fighter, and political leader. He was a strong advocate for the use of Hindi as a national language and is credited with playing a key role in the formation of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in India. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of BHU and was also the President of the Indian National Congress twice.
Malviya was born in Allahabad, India, in 1861 and received his early education in Varanasi. He later went to Calcutta and England to study law. Malviya returned to India and started his career as a lawyer, but soon became involved in the Indian independence movement. He was arrested several times for his political activities, but continued to fight for India's freedom.
Malviya was a strong advocate for education and believed that education was the key to India's progress. He was the founder of the Hindustan Times, one of India's leading newspapers, and was also involved in the formation of several other educational institutions.
Malviya passed away on November 12, 1946. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, in 2014.
